Barr & Barr worked with Dartmouth College and the Architects during preconstruction, planning a new addition and renovations to the Berry/Baker Library totaling 160,000 s.f. +/–.
The preconstruction task was to work with the Owner/Architect team on the design of a new Berry Building addition and the renovations to the existing Baker Building to meet Dartmouth College’s budget and construction schedule.
The project includes additional book stack areas, new elevators, classrooms and office spaces, as well as, renovations to the existing library building.
Construction was accomplished in two phases while the existing building was fully occupied. To ensure that the building remained accessible and dust free during construction, daily scheduled meetings with the Owner were held and detailed phasing plans were reviewed.
