Construction of this stand–alone 45,000 square foot
facility, including site clearing, utilities, foundation,
structure and all interior work, took 13 months. After
Owner occupancy, we continued to complete shell spaces
and minor renovations to accommodate changing needs.
The building has offices on the perimeter with chemistry
labs, biology labs, an NMR, instrument rooms, and glass
washing facilities clustered in the center of the building.
The facility is dedicated to the basic research in synthetic
organic chemistry.
Construction included special shaped brick and 2–color
mortar for the exterior, epoxy flooring throughout the lab
and support areas, 7 walk–in fume hoods, 2 radioactive
hoods, 32 standard fume hoods, 950 lineal feet of chem–
resin countertops and special construction of several areas
to protect occupants in case of explosion. |
